Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) encompasses a set of practices adopted through conscious learning, enabling individuals or families to manage their own health and actively contribute to public health. Consistent adoption of PHBS is crucial for the elderly, given the high prevalence of chronic diseases in this age group. The 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) reported that 54.4% of the elderly were diagnosed with hypertension, and 51.08% experienced health issues annually. This situation is exacerbated by a lack of PHBS education specifically targeting the elderly at the community level. The urgency of this community service initiative stems from a preliminary survey conducted by the team in the Perhentian Marpoyan Urban Village, Pekanbaru City, which revealed that elderly residents lacked access to information, education, and understanding regarding the importance of clean and healthy living practices—a deficiency that negatively impacts their health. This activity aims to enhance the elderly's knowledge of PHBS, shift negative attitudes toward PHBS to positive ones, raise awareness of its long-term benefits, and provide easily understandable education through direct counseling and brochures. The methods employed included face-to-face counseling using a small-group approach, a demonstration of the six-step handwashing technique, and the distribution of illustrated educational brochures. Targeted outputs include a final community service report—complete with permits, a certificate of completion, attendance records, documentation, and pre- and post-test instruments—as well as a community service journal article. The results demonstrate a significant increase in knowledge: the average correct response rate rose from 76.7% in the pre-test to 100% in the post-test, with all 12 participants achieving a perfect score following the counseling session. This achievement meets the target of a minimum 30% increase in knowledge established during the initial planning phase.
