HUBUNGAN TINGKAT PENGETAHUAN DAN KEPADATAN HUNIAN DENGAN KEJADIAN PENYAKIT TUBERKULOSIS DI WILAYAH KERJA PUSKESMAS ANDALAS

Abstract: Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major public health problem due to its high transmission risk and its association with behavioral and environmental factors. The working area of Andalas Public Health Center is one of the areas with the highest TB cases in Padang City. This study aimed to determine the relationship between knowledge level and housing density with TB occurrence in the working area of Andalas Public Health Center in 2025. This quantitative study used a case-control design involving 82 respondents, consisting of 41 cases and 41 controls with a 1:1 ratio. Cases were selected using total sampling, while controls were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and observation sheets, then analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test. The risk was assessed using odds ratio (OR) with a 95% confidence interval. The results showed a significant relationship between knowledge level and TB occurrence (p = 0.043; OR = 2.79; 95% CI = 1.13–6.96). Housing density was also significantly associated with TB occurrence (p = 0.015; OR = 3.34; 95% CI = 1.33–8.37). This study concludes that poor knowledge and inadequate housing density are associated with a higher risk of TB occurrence.
